The 39th International Free Electron Laser Conference (FEL2019) , held at the University of Hamburg, Germany from August 26th to August 30th, 2019 has attracted more than 340 scientists from Europe (68%), Asia (19%), and the Americas (13 %).

The 2019 Young Scientist FEL Award has been given to Joe Duris (SLAC) and Chao Feng (SARI) . The 2019 FEL Prize was awarded to Enrico Allaria (Sincrotrone Trieste), Alex Lumpkin (Argonne/Fermilab), and Gennady Stupakov (SLAC).



The conference proceedings have been published on JACoW in November 2019.

FEL 2019 has focused on recent advances in free electron laser theory, experiments, electron beam, photon beam and undulator technologies, and applications of free electron lasers. The conference included a tour of FLASH and European XFEL.
